Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request under its own systems and returns the response. Washtenaw County Criminal History does not keep or log those query terms on its own servers.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained long enough to review and answer it. Such a message is not shared beyond the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server may collect routine technical facts about the visit:

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Washtenaw County Criminal History does not host, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It identifies government sources such as Washtenaw County Sheriff Records, the county trial courts, Michigan State Police, and the Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not turned into a consumer report or a record about another person, and this website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies run the embedded search tools. Their privacy terms, retention periods, and sharing rules apply to information submitted through those forms. Review the provider's policy before sending a query because this policy does not govern the provider's systems.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Washtenaw County offices, Michigan agencies, court portals, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an outbound link, the destination's privacy policy governs the visit. Read those terms before providing personal data.
Advertising providers may also use their own technology to measure activity across websites and tailor ads. That processing occurs on the provider's systems.

This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from a person under 18. A verified request concerning a minor's submitted data will be reviewed for deletion.
Your Data Rights
Applicable privacy and consumer-protection law may provide rights beyond those listed here. Michigan FOIA, MCL 15.231 et seq., governs access to nonexempt records held by public bodies, while MCL 28.243 governs criminal-history dissemination. Those statutes concern government records and do not turn this private website into a government custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
